This week is the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show.
The mobile electronics manufacturers are introducing their new products this weekend. This show will tell us what's to come over the next twelve months. JL Audio has introduced many exciting new products to add to their lineup. Alpine and Kenwood have also great updates to their current products. Here are some highlights of whats available soon!
JL Audio
This is an amplifier that we have been waiting on for a long time. It is an all in one solution that is flexible enough to replace two of our most popular amplifiers and fit in just about any car or truck.
Two new lines of speakers are going to add a new diminson to JL Audio's speaker lineup. The C2 and C3 speakers look and sound great. The new C2 speakers are already here in the store for you to listen to.

Alpine has several new products that look very interesting...
This is the new iXA-W404. It is a touchscreen, iPod control head unit that is inspired by the very successul iDAX line of head units that was introduced two years ago. This unit also have the ability to connect to a navigation system as well as a back-up camera.
The iDA-X305 is an updated version of '08's iDA-X100. It is a high speed iPod control head unit that has been our most popular unit for iPod since it arrived.
Like any new product introduced at CES, there will be some time before we actually see these units in the stores. You can check back on Alpine's and JL Audio's websites for more information.

MERA has a new MySpace web site that is dedicated to consumers. The MySpace page is called the MERA Q&A page. MERA members, including Santa Fe Auto Sound, monitor the blog and answer questions. This is a great place for information and sharing knowledge. Everyone seems to have a "expert buddy" that knows how to hook up stereos. If you have ever questioned something that your buddy has done or just want a reliable source to back you up, this is the place to go. Unlike internet forums, industry professionals will be answering your mobile electronics questions. They can also point you in the direction of the closest car audio retailer in your area.

A Rare Opportunity!

The JL Audio Factory Demo Volkswagon GTI will be here at Santa Fe Auto Sound from Saturday April 5th until Saturday April 12th. This car was built at the JL Audio factory in Florida. It debuted in 2001 when JL Audio unveiled their W7 subwoofer line. It is rare that JL allows their vehicles to travel around the country, and we are very greatful to have the opportunity to display this show car on our sales floor for one week only! Don't miss the opportunity to sit in the car and listen for yourself!
The GTI features two 13W7 subwoofers, two 300/2v2 amplifiers for the doors, and two 1000/1v2 amplifiers for the subwoofers. They are custom molded and fiberglassed enclosures, accented with lighting. An Alpine headunit and processor gives signal to this awesome system.
The new 13TW5-3 from JL Audio has arrived! We have been waiting on this subwoofer for about a year. The arrival of this new subwoofer, brings new opportunities to add great bass to many cars where larger enclosures simply will not fit. Pick-up trucks can be the number one challenge to add a large subwoofer. This will fit! Unlike many of the other thin subwoofers on the market today, this speaker keeps the great sound quality and deep bass that JL Audio is known for.

More Boston Subwoofers Are Here!
As many of you know, we became a Boston Acoustic dealer again earlier in the year. They have some great products and fit very well with our current product line-up. If you have been in the store recently, our subwoofer wall is primarely JL Audio. Well, we are bringing you more options. These Boston subs rock out! They are great sound quality subs and get LOUD! We are carrying their G1 subwoofers as well as their G5 enclosures and the SPG555 ported enclosure.
The G5's have tiny enclosures and pack a huge punch with the passive radiators on the back side. They move serious air! The G5's would be a great stocking stuffer! Well, maybe thats a stretch. But they are very compact and will fit into very small spaces.

Alpine Imprint Is Here!
"The interior space of a vehicle is a challenging environment for accurate sound reproduction because it distorts sound quality, making it difficult to create a system that delivers music as crisp, clear and defined as originally intended. The variety of surfaces and materials, as well as the size and shape of the car’s interior, collectively impact how the sound reaches the ears of the driver and passengers. Alpine partnered with Audyssey Labs to develop an automotive application of their powerful MultEQ technology. Audyssey’s research into the fundamental causes of acoustical distortion resulted in their creation of MultEQ, a breakthrough technology platform for minimizing sound distortion caused by the listening environment." - Alpine Electronics of America
What Do You Get?
The Alpine PXE-H650 and the CDA-9887 Imprint Hardware
We recently installed a CDA-9887 Imprint Head Unit into a Cadillac El Dorado. We replaced the factory front speakers with JL Audio TR525-CXi's and rear speakers with JL Audio TR690-TXi's.
Here are some pictures of the process:
USB connection on the radio. This connects through Alpine's Imprint interface and goes into our computer with the Imprint software.
The microphone is taking readings at the ear level of the driver for the most accurate processing of the sound.
We take measurements in 6 locations of the car to account for all variances in the car's interior and speaker locations.
Running the Imprint software and analyzing the information coming from the microphone in the car.
After this is completed, which is about an hour long process, you have a completely tuned sound system that used to involve several man hours of tuning, listening, tuning, measuring, and re-tuning again to get things right. In the end, you get a system tuned to your listening environment in YOUR car, right at the touch of a button. You are able to go back and forth between the standard sound from the car, and the Imprint sound. There is quite a difference. Stop by the store today to demo it on our display board!
