1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

The goal of this project is to have an original looking system that blended into the car's colors and curves, while updating the audio to today's standards of sound quality and functionality. The entire system is removable and can go back to original.

Entry 1

We removed the seats to allow us to work easier in the rear of the car and to run wires where they needed to go. There will be new trim panels built to allow for speakers, subwoofers, a head unit, and amplifier to be mounted in the rear of the Corvette. The rear panels here are being test fit into their new homes.

Entry 2

The kick panels are getting treated with fiberglass to allow for 5.25" JL Audio speakers to be aimed and mounted. They will be the front speakers in this build.

Entry 3

The fiberglass moulds are complete and are being covered in black vinyl to match the rest of the dash coverings and seats. The blend into the carpet and kick panel areas. The left and right kick panel moulds were shaped and aimed specifically to create the best sound possible for the driver.

Entry 4

The rear panels here are being prepared, sprayed, and covered before they are to be mounted into the rear of the vehicle. The large opening was made in the rear panel to act as a speaker grille for the two full range and two subwoofers that will sit behind it.

Entry 5

The kick panels are complete and the front of the car is back together. The original radio is in the dash, keeping the stock look. Each kick panel is installed and ready to play.

Entry 6 e

The JL Audio XD700/5 amplifier is going to power the system. It is being run from an Alpine CDA-105 for AM/FM/CD/iPod control. It is behind the passanger seat and there is a wireless remote in front for either the driver or passenger to control the unit. The rear speakers consist of JL Audio C3 650's and two JL Audio 6w3v3 subwoofers.

Entry 7

The finished rear end using factory style silver screws to mount all new trim panels and blend into the rear. The head unit is the only visible addition and can be controlled here or by remote.
